Casa De Folklore

The artisans from Vâlcea County, Romania, honour the centuries-old Horezu pottery tradition, recognised by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This designation celebrates the unique craftsmanship, symbolism, and deep cultural roots of Horezu ceramics. A living art form that continues to thrive in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains.

Each piece is lovingly handmade in the artisan’s home atelier using time-honoured techniques passed down through generations. The natural pigments are created from minerals and clays, then applied with cow horns and detailed with fine wooden sticks in a process known as jirăvirea, a hallmark of Horezu pottery.

Every plate is thrown, shaped, and decorated entirely by hand, featuring traditional motifs that celebrate nature, harmony, and heritage. The result is not just a piece of tableware, but a timeless work of Romanian art.
